Jil Flemmig, LICSWA (she/they)
Perhaps you feel alienated, empty, or disconnected. Maybe you struggle to trust yourself and others. It might be difficult to hold your boundaries and advocate for yourself. Unaddressed pains can show up as anxiety, depression, trauma, harmful relationships, self-criticism, and addictions - also manifesting on physical and spiritual levels. You might feel stuck and overwhelmed on how to move forward. Therapy is a place where you can build a deeper understanding of yourself, what you’re experiencing, where that comes from, and what that means to you. It takes a lot of courage to (re)connect with yourself and share your story.
I also firmly believe that what you need to heal already exists inside of you, but perhaps has been undiscovered or inaccessible. Whatever your reason for seeking therapy, I am excited to work with you to tune into your inner wisdom and support you in feeling empowered to shape your own reality. Whether it’s untangling stories that no longer serve you or unrooting oppressions that have been internalized (often unconsciously), I work with you to reclaim your voice and restore your autonomy.
My approach to therapy
I strive to co-create a space where you can authentically express yourself and safely explore your inner world. I provide both in person and virtual sessions. Folks that work well with me are willing to be curious and creative in their healing journey, rather than seeking concrete directions on how to be “okay”.
My practice is anchored in mindfulness, somatic (body-oriented) practices, and anti-oppressive work to address unprocessed trauma, attachment wounds, old narratives, and how memories are stored in the body. As a multicultural and biracial immigrant, I honor the cultural knowledge and ancestral wisdom that each of us carries, integrating valuable elements into the healing process as you see fit. It is my mission to decolonize therapy to foster a space where all your identities and experiences are welcomed. I am committed to my own lifelong work of unlearning and relearning to best support your transformation and liberation.
While I adapt my approach depending on what works best for you, some specific modalities I draw from include:
Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR)
Trauma-focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT)
Somatic therapy & mindfulness
Internal Family Systems (IFS)
Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)
