Abby Birk, LMFT (she/her)

“Therapy is a space to bravely share your story, to vulnerably explore your strengths and growth areas, to boldly challenge each other towards fully-embodied growth, meaning, and connection.”

Whether you struggle with anxiety, depression, work stress, grief and loss, personal or professional identity, relationship problems, life stage transitions, general stuckness or burnout, I will meet you where you are with compassion and curiosity.

We will co-create a trusting therapeutic relationship. We will collaborate to understand where you’re stuck. We will identify your hopes for change and brainstorm steps to make those changes, all while having some laughs and fun along the way, too.

I don’t have all the answers. I can’t make it all go away. I can’t fix what you’re experiencing.

Yet, I can help.

My approach to therapy

I work best with adults and young couples who are open and willing to put in the work to experience real change in their lives. Characterized by humor, sass, curiosity, and vivacity, my authentic therapeutic style suits those who are looking for a more collaborative and conversational experience in session. I offer both in person and virtual sessions.

My work is informed by an anti-oppression, Health At Every Size™, LGBTQIA2+ -affirming, sex-positive lens. I use multiple therapy modalities and evidence-based practices in this work: CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), TF-CBT (Trauma-focused CBT), client-centered therapy, family systems therapy, Motivational Interviewing (MI), Health At Every Size (HAES), PREPARE/ENRICH, somatic/body-focused and strengths-based/solution-focused therapy.
